(Non)Gravure sous Linux avec un graveur externe

Bouhou, j’arrive pô à graver un CD avec mon graveur externe …
Pourtant, il grave bien les DVD en USB et Firewire ; il grave bien les CD quand je branche le graveur en IDE.
Mais là :

Suite à quelques pistes trouvées sur le net, j’ai installé la version i386 au lieu de la version AMD64 de Ubuntu (ce qui m’a permis de me débarasser de quelques verrues nécessaires pour faire fonctionner des packages non disponibles en 64 bits). Bilan : j’ai les mêmes messages d’erreur, mais j’arrive à effacer un CDRW ; par contre, la gravure plante toujours, mais plus loin (et zou, une galette de grillée, une).
Les prochaines pistes : aller plus loin que sudo cdrecord et chmod +s cdrecord, et graver en étant effectivement root, ce qui, sous Ubuntu, n’est pas trivial (on ne peut pas le logger en root sous Ubuntu).

La solution « full root » ne fonctionne pas. J’ai aussi recompilé cdrecord : toujours pas mieux
